“Every successful organization has a strong foundation.” Our pillar of strength is Dave Lindsey — business executive, successful entrepreneur, and influential leader.
In the workplace:
In 1998, Dave founded DEFENDERS — a fast-growth company that is the largest home services dealer in the nation and ADT’s only Authorized Premier Provider — out of a spare bedroom. Two decades later, DEFENDERS has revenue nearing $600M, 2,600 employees in 48 states, 133 branch offices, and has been listed on the Inc. Magazine 500 list five times.
In 2015, DEFENDERS was ranked #17 in the world by Training, Inc. magazine for its world-class employee development and training programs. The DEFENDERS’ slogan — Businesses don’t grow, people do — isn’t just a tagline. It’s the foundation upon which this extraordinary company was built. In DEFENDERS’ infancy, Dave realized that in order to grow his business, he had to first grow his people. This approach to business growth became Dave’s passion and mission, and in 2014, he founded trueU.
In the community:
Dave’s servant leadership attitude is evident in every aspect of his life and his career. As a strong believer in the transformation power of service, Dave also founded the Super Service Challenge in 2011 — one of trueU’s signature offerings. This annual event encourages co-workers to form a team and serve nonprofits. The ultimate goal? To win prize money for the charities they serve. Just nine years post-launch, the contest has spurred nearly 2,000 companies across the nation to engage more than 250,000 employees into service for roughly 3,000 nonprofits, yielding more than $30M in charitable donations.
Dave is actively involved in the community through his participation with Big Brothers / Big Sisters, YPO Christian Fellowship Network, Youth with a Mission, Homes of Hope, and many other nonprofits. Dave has three children; David, Maggie & Jackie Ray.
